What do chiropractors do?
Chiropractic is a natural form of health care developed in 1895 that focuses on the nervous system and its relationship to the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors treat patients for “subluxations” which are areas of lost motion and function in the joints of your body. By restoring normal function to the joints through chiropractic adjustments, our goal is to normalize the information the nervous system receives from your body. Once adjusted, the body is “free” to work with its own natural healing ability, allowing people to find relief from pain, improved functionality, and a greater quality of life. Part of the chiropractor’s role in the health care team is to look at each person as an individual and assess their entire state of well-being. This can include areas such as stress, diet, work activities, exercise, relaxation techniques, and many other areas that may contribute to your overall health. By assessing all of the different aspects of an individual’s life, they can help to guide patients to appropriate care and lifestyle changes.
